Production Lead-Time & Ship-Date Estimator
Estimate your sampling, bulk production, and shipping timeline — and when your order will reach you.
What is garment production lead time?
Production lead time is the total time from placing an order to receiving your goods. For apparel it has three stages: sampling and approval, bulk production, and shipping (transit). Knowing the full timeline lets you plan a launch or seasonal drop with confidence.
The Lead-Time & Ship-Date Estimator above adds these stages to your start date and returns an estimated dispatch date and delivery date at your destination.
How the lead-time estimator works
Set your order details and the tool builds the schedule:
- Product complexity — basic tees sew faster than structured outerwear.
- Order quantity — larger runs add production days.
- Printing / embroidery and fabric type — custom dyeing and decoration add time.
- Sampling — new styles need a sample and approval; repeat orders skip this.
- Freight mode — sea or air sets the transit time.
A worked example
A 2,000-piece order of basic tees needing a new sample, on in-stock fabric, shipped by sea, runs about 36 days in the factory. Starting today, that means dispatch in roughly five weeks and delivery about four weeks after that once sea transit is added.
Why planning lead time matters
Missing a seasonal window can leave you holding stock that arrives too late to sell at full price. Mapping the timeline early lets you book production slots, choose the right freight mode, and set realistic launch dates — especially around peak seasons when factory capacity is tight.
How to shorten your lead time
- Approve samples quickly — approval delays are the most common cause of slippage.
- Use in-stock fabrics instead of custom dyeing where possible.
- Place repeat orders, which skip the sampling stage.
- Choose air freight for urgent, high-value drops.
- Book capacity ahead of peak seasons.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does garment manufacturing take?
For a typical order, factory lead time is around 3–6 weeks depending on product complexity, quantity, decoration, and whether a new sample is needed. Add transit time for delivery to your country.
What adds the most time to an order?
Sampling and approval, custom fabric dyeing or knitting, and heavy decoration (printing plus embroidery) add the most days. Peak-season capacity can also extend timelines.
How long is shipping from India?
Sea freight typically takes around four weeks to major markets, while air freight is about one week. The estimator lets you compare both.
Do repeat orders ship faster?
Yes. Because the style is already approved, repeat orders skip the sampling stage and move straight into production, cutting roughly two weeks.
Is the estimated date guaranteed?
It is an indicative plan. Real dates depend on order mix, yarn availability, approval speed, and current capacity (Rudraa produces about 72,000 pieces a month) — confirm exact dates with our team before planning a launch.
